# Set up your company

Use this page to create a company in Sureshake, keep its details current, and control who can operate it and who can follow it.

## Create the company

The **Add your company** step in [onboarding](/founders/) asks for six fields: name, website, location, industry, size and description. These are the minimum a company profile needs before it can be published to the directory.

Three options on this screen:

- **Generate draft** drafts the rest of the profile from public sources, the company website and existing directory records, with sources shown on each field. **Confirm** each field, or choose **Edit** and give the corrected value and a reason. Save the company name or website first.
- **Save and finish later** keeps your work as a draft.
- **Accept and create company** creates the company.

You can also add a company at any time from your dashboard.

## Find your way around

A company's home is **Review**: what needs attention, what changed and what's due. It holds no forms. Changes happen in the sidebar sections, mainly **Publish** for reports and **Control** for the company itself.

## Keep the company record current

Go to **Control** > **Entity Info**. The page has two tabs:

- **Public profile** is what the directory shows: logo and banner, tagline, business description, industry, company size, geography, website and social links. The **Profile completeness** panel shows what's missing.
- **Company record** is private to your workspace: legal entity name, registration number, entity type, registered address and the people who can act for the company. Unclaiming or deleting the company is also here.

The **On this page** rail shows each section's status. Items that have their own screens, such as additional addresses and key personnel, are listed under **Managed elsewhere**.

## Add your team

Team members operate the company. Followers only see what you allow. Don't use one for the other.

1. **Open the team page**

Go to **Control** > **Team & Access** and add a team member.
2. **Find or invite the person**

Search by name or email, or enter an email address to send an invitation.
3. **Choose a role**

Pick from roles such as **Administrator**, **Executive**, **Board Member**,
   **Employee** and **Advisor**.

People who were invited see the invitation under **Connect** > **Invitations**.

## Decide who can follow the company

Go to **Control** > **Audience** and choose **Grant Access**. A grant has three parts.

**Who it applies to (Principal Type):**

- **User**: one person.
- **Entity**: another company's owner and its accepted current team.
- **Organization**: the active members of an organization.

**What they can see (Access Preset):**

| Preset | Gives access to |
| ----------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **All reports** | All of the company's reports |
| **Goals only** | Reports tagged as goals |
| **Press releases only** | Press-release documents |
| **Custom selectors** | The report types, document types, tags or specific reports you choose |

**What they can open behind a report (Linked Artifact Access):**

- **None**: no linked documents.
- **Derived only**: summaries drawn from a linked document, but not the document itself.
- **Full artifact**: the document itself.

Start narrow and widen later if someone needs more. Revoke a grant when the need ends.

> **Note**
>
> A follow grant is ongoing access. To send one report to one person, [share the
> report](/founders/sharing/) instead.

## Group outside people into an organization

Create an organization when access should move with a group, such as an investment firm, a lender team or a group of advisors. Grant the organization access once, and people gain or lose that access as they join or leave.

1. **Open organizations**

Go to **Control** > **Entity Info** > **Company record**, then under
**Managed elsewhere** choose **Parent entity and organizations**.
2. **Create the organization**

Enter the **Organization Name**, and optionally its **Type** and
   **Description**.
3. **Invite members**

Search for people and choose a role for each. Pending invitations must be
accepted before the person gets any access.
4. **Grant access**

Under **Control** > **Audience**, grant access to the organization.

## Create viewer groups

Viewer groups are reusable lists of followers and employees that you can share reports with. A person can belong to several groups.

Go to **Control** > **Entity Info** > **Company record**, then under **Managed elsewhere** choose **Workspace settings** and use **Create group** under **Viewer groups**. To share with a group, see [Share reports](/founders/sharing/#share-with-a-viewer-group).

## Make the company public

The **Directory Visibility** switch controls whether your company appears in the public directory and on its public page. See [Publish your company](/directory/publish-your-company/).

Your first publication doesn't go live straight away. You'll see **Company page in review** until Sureshake releases the page, which happens the same day. Until then, your public page and directory listing stay private.
