# For candidates

This guide shows you how to find a role, apply, and follow your application through to a decision. You can browse without an account, but you need one to apply. See [Create your account](/start/create-your-account/).

## Find a role

Go to [sureshake.com/hiring](https://www.sureshake.com/hiring). Narrow the list with these filters:

- **Search** matches a role's title and description, and the company name.
- **Location** matches the role's location text.
- **All Work Types** filters to **Remote**, **Hybrid** or **On-site**.

Select **View Role** to open a role. Depending on what the company entered, the page shows:

| Section | What it tells you |
| --------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **About This Role** | The job description |
| **What You'll Demonstrate** | The problems you respond to when you apply, with success criteria |
| **How You'll Be Evaluated** | The dimensions the company says it will assess, with their weights |
| **About the Company** | A link to the company's Sureshake profile |

If Sureshake holds skill data for both you and the role, you also see a **Your Match** card. The percentage is the share of the role's listed skills that Sureshake has on record for you. It is not an assessment of you, and many roles do not show one.

## Apply

> **You get one application per role**
>
> You can't edit an application after you submit it. You also can't apply to the
> same role again, even if you withdraw.

1. **Start your application**

On the role page, select **Apply Now**. If you are signed out, select **Sign in to Apply** first.
2. **Add a cover letter**

This step is optional, and the limit is 2,000 characters.
3. **Respond to each problem**

Write up to 5,000 characters under **Your Response**. You need to answer each problem before you can move to the next one.

The form takes text only. To point to your work, include links in your responses.
4. **Review and submit**

Check everything under **Review Your Application**, then select **Submit Application**.

## Track your applications

Your applications are listed under **My Applications** at [sureshake.com/hiring/applications](https://www.sureshake.com/hiring/applications). Select **View Details** to open one and see its timeline.

| Status | What it means |
| ------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Submitted** | Received, and waiting for the company to start review |
| **In Review** | The company has started reviewing it |
| **Evaluated** | The company has finished evaluating it and has not yet decided |
| **Hired** | The company selected you |
| **Rejected** | The company did not select you |
| **Withdrawn** | You withdrew it |

Companies can close a role at any time. Once a role is closed, its page is no longer available, but your application stays in **My Applications**.

## Read feedback

A company can send you feedback once it has started reviewing your application. Feedback is optional. When you receive it, **Feedback from Recruiter** appears on the application page with **Strengths** and **Areas for Growth**.

## Withdraw an application

You can withdraw while your application is **Submitted** or **In Review**.

1. **Open the application**

In **My Applications**, select **View Details**.
2. **Withdraw**

Select **Withdraw**, then confirm. You can't undo this.

## Who can see your application

The company you applied to can see your name, email address, cover letter and responses. Your application is not published on your profile or on the role page.
