# Create your account

By the end of this page you will have an account, a profile and, if you want one, a company with a first report under way. Your progress is saved, so you can stop and come back at any step.

If someone sent you a link to a report or an invitation, use that link. After you sign in or create an account, you go straight to what was shared, and you can skip the rest of this page until you need it.

Enter your email on [sureshake.com](https://www.sureshake.com) and choose **Start building your track record**, then finish signing up in the window that opens. You can also go to the [sign-in page](https://www.sureshake.com/signin), choose **Open secure sign-in** and pick from the methods shown.

## Go through onboarding

New accounts land in onboarding, which has four stages: **Profile**, **Company**, **Connect ledger** and **First report**.

1. **Tell us about you**

Enter your **Full name**, **Work email** and **Relationship to the
company**. **Role** is optional. Choose **Continue**.
2. **Add your company**

Enter your **Company name** or **Website**, then choose **Generate draft**
to have Sureshake draft the rest from public sources. Confirm or correct
each field, or fill them in yourself. The company needs six: **Company
name**, **Website**, **HQ location**, **Industry (SIC)**, **Employees** and
**Description**. When they look right, choose **Accept and create company**.

Nothing is published until you accept. Use **Save and finish later** to
keep a draft. If you are here only to read reports, choose **I don't have a
   company** and add one later.
3. **Connect your ledger**

Choose **Connect accounting** to connect QuickBooks or NetSuite, so your
first report is drafted from your books. The first sync usually takes a few
minutes, and you can leave the page while it runs. To report from uploaded
statements instead, choose **Skip for now**. You can connect a ledger later.
4. **Start your first report**

Choose **Start first report**, or **Choose report profile** to set what
Reporter produces first. The report stays a draft until you publish it.
See [Reporting](/founders/reporting/) for the rest of the process.

When you finish, the page says **You're set up** and links to your dashboard.

## Set up your profile

Your profile is a public listing at `sureshake.com/p/your-address`. Saving the first onboarding step creates it. You edit it on the listing itself, and changes appear to visitors immediately. Who can open a report is set on each report, not here.

1. **Open your listing**

Open the account menu in the header and choose **Profile**.
2. **Edit the basics**

Choose **Edit profile**. You can change your **Full name**, **Profile
address**, **Title**, **Company**, **Location**, **Website**, **LinkedIn**,
   **GitHub** and **Twitter / X**.
3. **Say who you are**

**Tagline** is the one line under your name. **About** is a longer
   introduction with its own section.
4. **Add your history**

Use **Add role**, **Add education**, **Add skill** and **Add item** (for
your **Brag Book**) on the listing. **Import from a resume** can fill in
   some of this for you.
5. **Add a cover image**

Choose **Change cover** on the banner to upload a JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP
image of up to 5 MiB. **Remove cover** clears the banner and leaves your
   portrait as it is.

### The More menu

Every person's listing has a **More** menu:

- **About this member** shows when the account joined, when its contact details and profile photo last changed, and the verifications recorded for it. Nothing there is inferred, and an account with no verifications says so.
- **Copy profile link** copies the address of the listing.
- **Send profile in a message** puts the link in a direct message to someone you pick, with your note.
- **Save as PDF** opens your browser's print dialog for the listing.
