Claiming and Verifying Your Organization's Profile
Who can claim a directory profile, what claiming does and does not do, and how the review process works.
If your organization has a reference profile in the Sureshake directory, an authorized representative can claim it. On an unclaimed profile, the claim module asks:
Work at {organization}? Claim and verify this profile to manage public facts, publish profile updates, file reports, and configure permissioned packages.
The claim action is labeled Claim and verify profile.
Who can claim
Claiming verifies that an authorized representative controls the profile. Two evidence methods are supported:
- Work-email domain match — you are signed in with a work email whose domain matches the organization's domain. This is the fastest path.
- Manual evidence — if a domain match is not possible, you submit supporting evidence: one or more URLs plus a written explanation (at least 20 characters) describing your role and authority to manage the profile.
What claiming does
After a claim is approved, you can:
- Manage public facts — maintain the profile's public information and publish profile updates.
- File reports — file reports through Sureshake, building the profile's filing record.
- Configure permissioned sharing — share private content with approved viewers on an approval-required basis.
What claiming does not do
The claim dialog states this directly:
Claiming verifies that an authorized representative controls this profile. After approval, you can manage public facts, file reports, and configure permissioned sharing. Claim approval does not make private financial information public.
Claim approval changes who controls the profile — nothing else. Private financial information stays private, and nothing is published without an explicit action by the profile's managers.
The review process
From the profile, choose Claim and verify profile and provide your evidence (work-email domain match or manual evidence).
While the claim is being reviewed, the profile shows a Claim under review badge. The current public reference record remains visible during review — nothing is hidden or replaced while the decision is pending.
A Sureshake administrator reviews the evidence and approves or rejects the claim, with review notes.
On approval, the profile becomes managed. The identity dimension in the trust panel reflects the change — for example "Verified by Sureshake on {date}" once identity verification completes, or "Managed · not yet verified by Sureshake" in the interim.
