Startup Capital Marketplace

Startup profiles with tiered visibility, permissioned investor follows, evidence-first matching, and controlled capital engagement.

The marketplace connects startups building a verified execution record with capital providers who follow that record — before, during, and after a raise. The execution record is the product; matching is built on top of it.

The trust pattern is claim → consistency → social proof: call an objective, file consistently, attach evidence, let selected parties observe, and close the loop against the original claim.

This page describes the product model. If you are a capital provider, the Investor Guide walks through your side step by step — mandates, search, watchlists, alerts, follows, and engagement.

Startup profiles and visibility tiers

A startup profile has separate permission tiers, each controlled by the startup:

TierWho sees itWhat it includes
publicEveryoneCompany basics, public called shots and closed outcomes, evidence badges, capital status
followerApproved capital providersSeason target and progress, approved weekly updates, selected metrics and milestones
capitalProviders in active engagementCapital-readiness material beyond follower access
diligenceProviders you admit to diligenceVerified reports, deck, cap table, data-room artifacts — each item separately permissioned
customAudiences you defineYour selection

Public financial values, cap-table data, customer names, and confidential artifacts are excluded from the public tier by default. Use the audience preview to see your profile exactly as each tier sees it before publishing.

Capital status is a structured, founder-controlled field — not_raising, planning, open_to_relationships, or actively_raising — and publishing it publishes only the status value, never offering terms.

Public fundraising visibility beyond the status value follows a separately reviewed securities workflow and is not part of the marketplace today.

Follow relationships

Verified capital providers request permission to follow a startup. A follow request states its reason, the tier requested, the observation the investor wants, and a duration (up to 365 days).

  • Founders accept, narrow, or decline every request.
  • Access is time-bound and renewable; founders can pause, narrow, or revoke at any time. Revocation denies access immediately while the audit history is preserved.
  • A view alone is never capital access, and following never grants the deck, financial statements, or a data room.

Investor privacy

  • Private saves and watchlists. Saving a startup or adding it to a watchlist notifies no one and grants no access. Watchlist alerts fire only on evidence the startup approved for you, and each alert explains which approved evidence caused it.
  • Firm-scoped notes. Investor notes on a startup stay inside the firm — they never appear on the startup's profile or portable record.
  • Mandates. Investment mandates are principal-scoped (person or firm) and versioned, with an observed history distinct from what the principal declares.

Matching

Matching is explainable and evidence-first:

  • Candidates match first on explicit mandate fit, then on relevant execution evidence — using only permission-approved inputs.
  • Every suggestion shows its provenance; there are no hidden ranking factors, no pay-to-rank, and no popularity or prestige boosts.
  • Founders and investors can dismiss suggestions and give feedback; stale facts behind a match can be corrected.

Capital engagement

Engagement is always an explicit, attributed action with distinguished lifecycle stages — passive signals (views, saves, follows) never become capital outcomes.

  • Investor requests: a meeting, a selected report, or deeper access — each with a subject, a reason, and an idempotency key.
  • Founder invitations: founders can invite an active follower to a meeting, a report, or a Capital Objective.
  • Capital Objectives: a startup activates an equity objective (draft or active) when it opens a raise workflow.
  • Handoff: qualified engagement moves into Capital Outcomes with its provenance preserved — clients cannot fabricate stage, actor, or outcome.

Programs and portfolios

Funds, accelerators, and communities can run program workspaces with branded seasons; the founder keeps the portable Sureshake record afterward. Portfolios collect companies with artifacts and collaborators, scoped to their owners and members.

API

Every capability above is API-accessible: see the Startup Marketplace API reference and the Execution API reference.
