Get Started as a Founder

From sign-up to a published, shareable report — the onboarding steps, what each screen asks for, and what happens behind the scenes.

This guide walks you from creating an account to sending your first verified report to an investor or lender. Onboarding has four steps — Profile → Company → Connect ledger → First report — and saves your progress at every step, so you can stop and come back to /onboarding at any time.

Nothing you enter is published until you accept it. Drafts, imported data, and generated reports stay private to your workspace until you choose to publish or share them.

1. Create your account

Choose Publish your first report on the Sureshake home page, or go to /signin. Sign in with email, Google, or a wallet.

  • A new account goes straight to onboarding.
  • If you followed a link — an invitation or a shared report — you land on that page instead, and can start onboarding later from /onboarding.

2. Tell us about you

The first screen, Tell us about you, asks for:

FieldNotes
Full nameShown on your public profile.
Work emailUsed for notifications.
RoleFor example CEO or CFO.
Relationship to the companyFounder, finance lead, employee, advisor, or other.

Choose Continue. Your account is yours, not your company's — you can operate one workspace and review another.

3. Add your company

You either create a new company or claim one that already has a public profile.

Create a new company

The Add your company screen asks for six fields — the minimum a company profile needs before it can appear in the directory:

Enter the legal company name, website, industry (SIC code), company size, HQ city, state, and country, and a short description.

Optional: choose Generate draft. Sureshake drafts the rest of the profile from public sources (your website and existing directory records) with a citation on every field. Confirm each field or Edit it with a reason.

Choose Accept and create company. If a similar company already exists, you will see a Possible duplicate notice — continue if yours is a different business.

Save and finish later keeps your draft; reopening onboarding resumes it.

Claim an existing company

If your company already has a reference profile, open it in the directory and choose Claim and verify profile. A claim from a signed-in work email on the company's own website domain is approved immediately; other claims are reviewed by Sureshake. See Claiming your profile.

4. Connect your ledger

Once the company exists, onboarding shows Workspace ready. Connect your ledger.

  • Connect accounting opens Reporter, where you choose Connect QuickBooks or Connect NetSuite and authorize read access. The first sync usually takes a few minutes; you can leave the page while it runs.
  • Skip to first report lets you start from uploaded statements instead and connect a ledger later.

5. Start your first report

When your books are synced, onboarding shows Start your first report.

  • Start first report opens Reporter, which drafts the report from your connected books.
  • Choose report profile lets you pick what the report covers before you start.

The report stays a draft until you accept it. See Entity Reporting.

6. Publish and share

Publish the report, then share it with the people who need to verify it — an investor, a lender, or your board. Each share is revocable, and recipients sign in to view it. See Sharing & Report Distribution.

Your company's verified identity

When you create a company through onboarding, Sureshake registers a verified identity for it on the Base blockchain (an ERC-8004 identity). It is the company's signature on what it publishes: it lets anyone confirm which company a report came from and when it was published.

  • It is created automatically, owned by your company's business wallet, and Sureshake pays the network fee. There is nothing for you to do.
  • Registration runs in the background and does not hold up any onboarding step.
  • The identity proves who published when — not that the numbers are correct.
